<p>Building Information Modeling promises to ease data sharing, save money and create better coordination among AECO teams. It is a “digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility,” that fosters collaboration by a broad range of professionals involved with different phases of a building, according to The National Building Information Model Standard Project Committee.</p>
<p>What BIM still lacks, according to experts, is a common foundation, an open language and standard for reliably sharing data and building models.</p>
